Also, we are going to officially start offering private and small group instruction. If there’s a particular style or weapon you have a hankering to learn more about, or if you just need somebody to yell at you and make sure that you actually do that work out thing you’ve been planning on, we’ll do our best to help you out. But what are we actually proposing to teach you?  Question no more!  We have added a page (creatively titled “What do we teach?“) under the classes section that explains it all.

Classes are chugging along, happy as can be.  We’re getting new students all the time, which is fabulous!  We love sharing this stuff with new people.  It’s kind of the whole point, after all.  That and this:

That’s me totally beating up David.  See how fast we’re moving?  It even made the picture blurry.  We’re just that good.  Or we were standing still to demonstrate and it’s dark in there and horrible for photography.  You’ll have to come to class on Tuesday and find out which.

Mostly there’s been a lot going on behind the scenes.  We are thinking, and writing, and plotting, and redefining ourselves and our vision all the time.  It will be glorious.  And some time in the hopefully not too distant future it’ll be all Scatha Combat Guild, all the time, seven days a week, and then I’ll have lots and lots of news to tell you.

In the mean time, we’ll be there, Tuesday nights at 7:00.  It’s not too late to join us, and 10 years from now you could say “I was there at the beginning.”  And then flourish your sword.  Or boxing gloves.  Or, um, wrestling mask?  Enormous biceps?  What does one do to demonstrate prowess in the wrestling ring?

As you can probably tell, we have a lot of fun!  If you don’t believe me, come to the intro class next week and see for yourself!

7:00-8:00 Beginner

8:00-9:00 Intermediate or Advanced

9:00-10:00 Sparring or individual 5×5 drills or work with an assistant instructor.

Next week is the one exception, the first two hours will be the intro class so in the future we’re all speaking the same language.

#1:  We have a forum!  There’s a new link in the sidebar, or go to www.boxwrestlefence.com/forum.

#2:  New class time!  Class is going to be three hours long starting July 6th.  We decided on 6:00-9:00 but got argued with to change it to 7:00-10:00, so we’re going to open it up to debate a little, and give everybody an excuse to actually check out the forum.  So, there’s a poll in the “Classes” section, if you have an opinion either way go there and vote and tell us why.  We’ll decide and announce the final decision at class on Tuesday.

#3:  Intro Class!  Along with the aforementioned new class extended class time, we are switching to our permanent ongoing curriculum starting July 6th.  More information on that can be found in the revamped class pages above.  The intro class is pretty much what it sounds like, it will give you an introduction to the basic principles of the school and you’ll learn the 5×5 core training drill.  Bring your friends!  This will be the beginning of glorious things.  It’s two hours long, $20 or free with membership.  The third hour will probably be sparring.  I may even bring cookies.  Which brings me to . . .

#4:  Membership!  Guild membership is $100 per year and includes benefits like monthly class rates, progress tracking, serious discounts on training weapons, and a free t-shirt!  More detailed details will be available as soon as I recover the list from Holly.
