Big Gay Sword Day was a big gay success!

Last Saturday, 18 students and 4 instructors came together at Valkyrie WMAA for our very first Big Gay Sword Day. This one-day event was designed to celebrate LBGT people in the HEMA community. All of the workshops were taught by queer instructors, and the event was open to everyone while centering LGBT experiences in martial arts. It was an absolute blast! Our attendees traveled from as far as Seattle to come to this event, and came from a broad range of backgrounds and experience levels — from fighters who’ve been at this for a decade or more, to folks who picked up a sword for the very first time in one of the day’s workshops.

Box. Wrestle. Fence. Bodies. 2018 Calendar

After months of hard work and secrecy, we’re very excited to announce our latest project! The Box Wrestle Fence Bodies calendar puts a martial arts twist on the long tradition of cheeky, nude fundraising calendars. In this year’s inaugural edition, 15 of our coaches and students box, wrestle, fence, balance, knife fight, and pose their way through a dozen high-quality (and tasteful!) images — and it’s all for a great cause!

Guy Windsor Weekend Gallery

This past weekend, we had the great pleasure of hosting Guy Windsor for a two-day workshop series on Italian longsword. Guy worked through the longsword methods of Fiore de’i Liberi and Philippo di Vadi with his trademark precision, attention to detail, rigorous commitment to effective body mechanics and historical fidelity, and sense of fun.
