I think what I’ve enjoyed most is how, while the lessons can be very hard work if you want them to be, there’s not any sort of macho atmosphere or pressure to be competitive. The school is based around being inclusive, friendly and helping people to feel safe. This makes it a particularly good choice for someone like me, who doesn’t enjoy a lot of fitness activities or feel comfortable in most gym-type situations. The staff at Valkyrie also make a lot of effort to get to know you personally, to guide you toward things you might enjoy and to make sure you have a good time. It’s martial arts for people who thought they’d never want to do martial arts, fitness for people who never thought they’d enjoy getting fit, and I can’t recommend it enough.
